Trachtengruppe

The Trachtengruppe performing at the Annual Dirndl-Trachten Ball

It was in February of 1982 when, at the suggestion of Russ Hartel, twelve couples met at the clubhouse to form a Trachten Group. The old-fashioned costumes of the ladies, each of which represents a different place in the homeland, as well as the colorfully decorated hats of the gentlemen, who march on in black pants and vest with a white shirt, are a treat for all who watch.

The ladies and gentlemen of the group dance because it brings them happiness and, especially, to preserve the tradition of the Donauschwaben Tracht. They also dance in order to maintain something which, along with musical accompaniment, tells a story of a time gone by. The Trachten Group shall be the continuation of something which began with the Children’s and Youth Group and shall never come to an end.

The ladies and gentlemen of the Trachtengruppe preserve something special which, along with musical accompaniment, tells a story of a time gone by.

The Trachten group is for adults aged 50 and above. This group is committed to preserving the most traditional of the Donauschwaben dances.
